3.1.4. Customer Attire: Appropriate clothing must be worn to maintain a proper image in a military and family fitness facility. Attire should be conservative, modest in nature, and without obscene and offensive language or graphics. Athletic attire and athletic-type shoes will be worn in all activity and equipment areas. Military utility uniforms are authorized to be worn during workouts and members may remove their utility uniform coat (shirt); however, t-shirts are worn. Only court shoes with non-marking soles will be worn on hardwood floors; boots are not authorized on treadmills or hardwood floors. Casual slacks, shorts and jeans are considered non-exercise attire. Due to safety concerns (including an increased risk of dehydration and heat illness), garments made of plastic, rubber, nylon, etc., that are specifically designed to increase the amount of perspiration, are not authorized in any fitness facility, to include outdoor running tracks and fields.

Fitness Center Safety Policy

1. This memorandum establishes safety protocols for the Malmstrom AFB Fitness and Sports Center.
Maintaining a clean and organized facility helps ensure the safety of all staff members, patrons and contractors. These standards support safe operations and allow the Fitness Center to remain accessible to all users.
2. The following procedures outline required safety protocols within the Fitness Center:
a. Aisles and Equipment: Aisles must remain clear at all times. Patrons will sanitize equipment and return it to its designated location immediately after use. If sanitation supplies are unavailable, notify a Fitness Center staff member.
b. Lockers and Personal Belongings: Lockers and shelves are available for patrons to store personal items during their workout. Daily locks are available for checkout at the front desk. The Fitness Center is not responsible for the loss or theft of personal belongings.
c. Prohibited Items: Certain items are not permitted on the Fitness Center floor as they create safety concerns and obstruct walkways. These items include, but are not limited to, bags, open beverage containers, and tripods. Bags containing medically required equipment are authorized. Fitness Center staff reserve the right to determine additional items that present safety concerns and require removal from the Fitness Center floor.
3. Additional guidance is provided in DAFMAN 91-203, Air Force Occupational Safety, Fire, and
Health Standards, Chapter 2.4.8. All areas shall be maintained in a clean and orderly condition. Do not place material where it creates a hazard for employees or visitors by falling, being a trip hazard or causing the collapse of structures. Keep aisles and passageways clear of tripping hazards.
4. For any questions or concerns regarding this policy, please contact the Fitness Center Section Chief
at COMM: 406-731-3600 or DSN: 632-3600.
