6 Week Course
The focus and rhythm that accompany knitting provide a busy mind the outlet to escape, and it is satisfying to create something out of the basic ingredients of needles and yarn. Studies have shown that knitting minimizes the risk of arthritis, can decrease cognitive impairment and memory loss, alleviates anxiety and depression, and decreases stress. If you are interested in learning the art of knitting, this is the class for you! Learn to read beginner knitting patterns, and stitches that will enable you to complete beginner projects such as headbands, wristlets, dish clothes, hats, scarves and blankets. The instructor will also be able to answer your questions about various knitting projects you may be interested in outside of class. Students will need to purchase the following materials to bring to the first day of class: size 10 knitting needles, a tapestry needle, scissors and yarn (one or two skeins of acrylic Red Heart worsted weight yarn would be sufficient to complete all class projects).
