Family Campout Club

  • Looking for a way to have some great family quality time on a limited budget?
  • Looking for a way for the kids to learn more about the outdoors?
  • Looking for a way to see more of Glacier and Yellowstone National Parks?

Join the Family Campout Club and learn ways to make camping more fun and easier to do. Learn how to light a stove and cook in a pie iron. Most of all, we’ll have a lot of fun!

Glacier Backpack Adventures

Depart Friday, Sept. 3, at 7 am
Return Monday, Sept. 6, at 8 pm
Ptarmigan Tunnel is the feature on this 4-day trip - hike through Ptarmigan tunnel, camp at 2 sites in the Belly River Area, spending the last night at Slide Lake before finishing the 34-mile loop. There’ll likely be huckleberries for your dessert. Transportation, entry & backcountry fees, and backpacking equipment included. Sign up early. Only 7 can go on each trip.
These are cost sharing trips but will not exceed $40 per person.

Glacier Family Backpack Adventures

Depart Saturday, Sept. 11, at 7 am
Return Sunday, Sept. 12, at 9 pm
Backpacking in Glacier National Park, is absolutely fantastic. The hike into No-Name Lake is flat for the first 3 miles but gains 800’ in the last 2 miles, making it an achievable goal for motivated kids. Once camp is set up, you can hike to Dawson Pass, do some fishing or relax by the lake. There may be some huckleberries to pick too! Transportation, entry & backcountry fees, and backpacking equipment included. Sign up early. Only 7 can go.

Hell’s Canyon Whitewater Expedition

Depart Thursday, Sept. 16, at 6 am
Return Monday, Sept. 20, at 9 pm
Hell’s Canyon trip features Class IV whitewater and 3 days in a wilderness canyon. Camp 2 nights along the Snake River and enjoy the scenery in the deepest canyon in the US. Transportation, fees, rafting & camping gear, and meals while we are camping are included. Only 12 can go! Make your reservation and get your leave lined up now!
Cost: $360 per person. No additional discounts honored.

Gibson Reservoir mOOnlight Kayak & Canoe Paddle

Friday, Sept. 24, from 5 to midnight
Gibson Reservoir is a spectacular place to paddle on a fall evening. Canoe or kayak, equipment, and transportation are included.
Cost: Canoe - $16/paddler, Rec Kayak - $18 (single). Club Card 10% discount honored. ½ price for those with a BOG card.

Mountain Hayride and Wiener Roast

Saturday, Sept. 25, from 2 to 9 pm
Crisp air and mountain scenery are the perfect setting for a hayride and picnic! Our hay trailer, is better than riding in a convertible!
Cost: $10 per adult, $6 per child (ages 3–14). Club Card 10% discount honored. Free for those with a BOG card.

Caving Adventure

Sunday, Sept. 26, from 1 to 9 pm
Lick Creek Cave features the Cathedral Room, the largest room of any Montana cave. Transportation, helmets and headlamps provided. Minimum age requirement is 10; all those under the age of 18 must be accompanied by an adult. All must be capable of climbing, crawling and duck walking. You’ll get a workout! Cost: $15 per person - Club Card 10% discount honored. ½ price for those with a BOG card.

Navigating with Map and Compass Class

Friday, Oct. 1, from 5:30 to 7:30 pm
Nobody plans to get lost! Don’t let it happen to you! Learn to orient a map, take a bearing, follow a bearing, navigate to a destination, and then find where you are. These are basic skills that backcountry travelers should master to keep themselves safe and avoid having to be rescued!
Cost: Free.

Mountain Orienteering, Practice in Navigating Backcountry

Saturday, Oct. 2, from 8 am to 6 pm
Practice skills learned in map & compass class. Orient a map, take a bearing, follow a bearing, navigate to a destination, and then find where you are. Build proficiency in this vital skill.
Cost: $15 per person. Club Card 10% discount honored.
