Family Child Care Subsidy

The FCC Subsidy Program assists working parents in finding quality, affordable childcare in FCC homes by sharing the cost of their childcare fees. Starting, 3 Janurary 2005, parents of children 3 years of age and younger who are enrolled in FCC homes can pay their weekly fees according to their Total Family Income. The fees are the same a parent would pay if their child were enrolled in the Child Development Center. For example, a family currently paying $85 per week to the FCC provider could have that weekly fee lowered to as little as $62 per week if their Total Family Income is in Category 1.

In order to qualify for the Subsidy Program, a child must be enrolled in care at an FCC home at least 35-50 hours per week. The program is open only to active duty military and DoD civilian families. To register, please contact the FCC Coordinator at 731-2116 to schedule an appointment.

Returning Home Care

If you’ve just returned from a 30-day or more Operation Enduring Freedom (OEF) or Global War on Terrorism (GWOT) deployment or have a two week R & R, this program is just what you need to help reduce the stress and readjust.

The Returning Home Care Program offers deployed parents up to 16 hours of free child care per child under this unique Expanded Child Care Program. Eligible users are active duty members, Air National Guard and Air Force Reserve members assigned to or living on the installation. Guard and reserve are eligible to use this program also under the Home Community Care Program in the civilian community during weekend care contracted time.

The care is provided in the Extended Duty Care FCC homes and in the off-base civilian ANG/AFR Home Community Care contracted homes off-base.

Extended Duty Child Care

The Extended Duty Child Care program assists military families working extended hours by increasing the hours of care available in several licensed FCC homes. It provides care beyond the standard 50 hours of care families are already purchasing in childcare programs on or off base. The program offers care in FCC homes beyond the standard 10-hour childcare day or five-day workweek. The military member must be required to work extended duty hours in support of mission requirements.

To be eligible for this program, at least one parent must be a member of the U.S. military service; active duty; Reserve or Guard member on active duty; dual employed (married to civilian); or DoD civilian employee.

The EDCC program provides services when your primary caregiver is unavailable. The primary caregiver may be the CDC, YAC, another FCC Provider, a downtown facility, or another family member or relative.

Parents wanting to use the EDCC program must be pre-enrolled and all required paperwork filled out. Parents must have written verification from their supervisor stating they need to work beyond the 40-hour workweek or have temporary shift changes. This program is offered at no additional cost to the families until further notice.

Missile Child Care

The Missile Child Care Program assists military members who work in the missile field by providing overnight and weekend care when they are in the missile field. Each family must have a primary caregiver available between the hours of 0630 - 1730 Monday through Friday. The primary caregiver may be the CDC, YAC, another FCC Provider, a downtown facility, or another family member or relative. Parents wanting to use the MCC program must be pre-enrolled and all required paperwork filled out. This program is offered at no additional cost to the families until further notice.

Child Care for PCS

The Air Force Aid Society provides eligible active duty members up to 20 hours of free childcare per child while preparing to leave or arriving on Malmstrom AFB. The Child Care for PCS program offers parents an opportunity to have their children cared for while packing, unpacking, in or out-processing, house hunting, etc. Certificates are issued to the active duty member or spouse with the PCS assignment orders at the Family Support Center. Childcare is provided only in Malmstrom licensed FCC homes. The certificate must be shown at the time care is provided to verify eligibility. Members are responsible for coordinating the date and times of child care with the FCC providers.

Child Care for Volunteers

The Air Force Aid Society provides eligible parents with the opportunity to have their children cared for while they are volunteering on base. Certificates are issued at the Family Support Center. Please note: Not all volunteer activities are covered by this program - all volunteer activities must be pre-approved by AFAS. Upon approval, a certificate will be issued to the parent. Childcare is provided only in Malmstrom licensed FCC homes. The certificate must be shown at the time care is provided to verify eligibility. Members are responsible for coordinating the date and times of child care with the FCC providers.
