Financial Aid When you Need It Most

The Air Force Aid Society is a non-profit organization that helps the Air Force take care of its own in emergencies through interest free loans or grants for basic needs.
The following are examples of some of the financial needs that could qualify you to receive emergency financial assistance.

  • Rent or mortgage payment to prevent eviction or foreclosure, when circumstances warrant.
  • Money to purchase food.
  • Money for travel to a family member’s funeral.
  • Help pay utility bills to avoid being shut off.
  • Car repair for a mechanical failure.
  • Unexpected medical expenses.

The Air Force Aid Society also offers grants for education.

New Falcon Loan Program: This program provides an interest-free loan of $500 or less, designed to meet the types of short-term financial needs of Airmen on active duty who might otherwise have to resort to a high-interest lender. Applying for the falcon loan is as easy as 1-2-3:

  1. Download the application from the AFAS website »
  2. Get your Air Force ID card and current Leave & Earnings Statement (LES)
  3. Provide Title 10 U.S.C. orders and a void check Air Force Reserve/Air National Guard personnel only)
  4. Go to your A&FRC
  • Some of these short-term financial needs are basic
    living expenses (rent, mortgage, food, phone, utilities, and gasoline), vehicle expenses (payment, repair, and
    insurance), emergency travel, and medical and dental
    expenses.
